Abstract
The massive form of tourists arrivals in Spain brought about the creation of companies which provide all the necessary services to enjoy the tourist resources and to achive the client´s satisfaction. The tourist product depends to a great extent on the quality of the service and this one in turn, on the professionals who provide these services. Spain, one of the most touristic countries in the world, has taken a long time in organizing the training of professionals engaged with hostelery and tourism. The plans of study, designed according to the laws of education approved by different changes of Government, have not been at the same height of the skilled workforce needs that the tourist companies demand. To find a harmony in the tourist sector, to fit the needs of the labor market and the system of training, is a challenge to make the quality of the service a competitive advantage for the Spanish tourist companies.
