La investigación y la información estadística en turismo en España hacia un sistema de conocimiento e inteligencia turística

Abstract

The present paper analyses tourism research in Spain with the objective of developing a double proposal for improvement: identifying the aspects susceptible to improve and the solutions for the future, and proposing the creation of a National System of Tourism Knowledge and Intelligence. After the analysis of tourism research, this paper is focused on the evolution of doctoral thesis in tourism defended in Spanish universities from 1976 to 2016. The results show five phases in the evolution of the defended PhD thesis in tourism in Spain, with a clearly ascending evolution.
